In a season full of surprises and rising stars, there is no better story than the rise of Jordan Love.
The 25-year-old was pretty average through the first eight weeks of the season as the Green Bay Packers lost their second straight game. Now playing for a spot in the NFC Championship, Love is looking to cement himself as an undisputed star. Many believe he achieved that status after making a surprising NFL playoff debut against the Dallas Cowboys two months ago. This rapid growth leads to new contract negotiations.
“The Packers and Love are expected to resolve this [contract situation] this spring,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Saturday, hours before Green Bay faced the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round. “Don’t be surprised if he gets a franchise quarterback-style contract extension. “Every time he makes the playoffs, he gets richer.”Packers’ Jordan Love is playing in a new tax bracket.
Love, who was controversially selected 26th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, signed a one-year, $22.5 million contract extension last season before moving to QB duties. It will be difficult for the organization to delay the inevitable and bring out the Brink’s truck for the young signal caller.
