According to Zach Lowe, multiple teams are showing interest in Simone Fontecchio this NBA trade deadline. You can hear Zach Lowe’s conversation with Tyme McMahon starting at minute 51 here.
On the podcast, Lowe said teams are “very interested in Fontecchio,” but he doesn’t know what the Jazz’s plans are for him. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that teams are interested in Fontecchio. He has become a solid rotation player this year, playing solid defense on the wing and shooting high 3-pointers.
He also demonstrates the ability to control the ball and move aggressively, making him a sought-after player for any team.Of course, it’s just interest from other teams, but we don’t know if the Jazz are interested in moving him. Pontecchio will be a restricted free agent on his rookie contract next season, so he has plenty of value. The Jazz can’t move him because he brings too much value for such a sweet price ($3.04 million this season). For what it’s worth, the Jazz could hold him until next season unless the team makes him a big offer.
