Michael Tomlin Record: 17-Year Unbelievable Streak…
Mike Tomlin is the person who, in the Steel City, has rewritten the book on constancy.
Initially, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers was appointed to succeed Bill Cowher, who had won a Super Bowl. Because Tomlin had never played for the Steelers, he was viewed as an outside hire at the time. But seventeen years later, Tomlin is still in charge, and during his tenure as head coach, he has developed greatness.
In his first 17 years of coaching, Tomlin is the only head coach in league history to have produced winning seasons every single year.
Before his own run of success started, he had a difficult task of replacing the 15-year coaching veteran. In addition to maintaining the winning culture that Cowher had established for the team, Tomlin had to carry on the winning heritage established by Cowher’s predecessor, the illustrious Chuck Noll, who led the team to four consecutive Super Bowl titles.
Even the legendary Steelers coaches of the past have not held this uncommon distinction, since Tomlin has never finished below.500, even in the face of a nine-loss regular season.
