The 2023 season has been an interesting one for Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur. For LaFleur and the Packers, this season has been a roller coaster ride.
There were many twists and turns, but it ended on a high note. At one point, it looked like LaFleur was on the hot seat. Then things changed so quickly that some said LaFleur could be a Coach of the Year candidate. Even if he ends up missing the playoffs, it could be the Packers’ best coaching achievement. But now he has to make an important decision.
Matt LaFleur has been hired as the new defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers. Matt Lahleur has encountered a decisive solution about the new Green Bay Packers defense coordinatorMatt Lphleur finally invited the fans of the packages, who named a defense coordinator Jo Barry. It was very late.
The decision to hire Barry to replace former defensive coordinator Mike Petty felt like a major accomplishment. Unfortunately, that’s how it turned out. General manager Brian Gutekunst spent a lot of capital on the Green Bay Packers defense during his tenure. This season alone, the Packers defense has had seven previous first-round picks. De’Vondre Campbell and Preston Smith led the draft picks.
Both players are playing on fairly large contracts. But with so much capital invested on this side of the ball, the results have been disappointing. Considering how well the Green Bay Packers offense has performed in the second half of the season, it looks like this unit has great stuff. So we have to play better defense. Barry’s situation didn’t get any better. LaFleur made the right choice by showing Barry the door.
Now LaFleur could face the biggest decision he’s had to make for his staff since becoming the Packers’ head coach. He can’t make the same mistake he did with Barry. Not when the attacks explode in 2024. But can he make the right decision? His record doesn’t give Packers fans much hope.
