Manchester City midfielder Rodri has warned Liverpool and Arsenal as the Premier League title race heats up.A win against Everton at 12.30pm on Saturday would put the Spanish side at least a few hours ahead of Liverpool. The Reds face Burnley at Anfield at 3pm, a favourite.As the two clubs battle for the title once again, Rodri spoke about the team’s goals for the season following last season’s historic treble victory.
According to him, his team aims not only to win four consecutive championships, but also to achieve a triple. Rhodri: “We need to find a new goal. If we get four in a row, we can make history this year. Gamers really feel the need to do things that no one has done before. That’s great. Personally, you think: I want to do this. “I want to do it again.” Because winning feels good and you still have a team that says, “We can do more.”
“We know how hard it is to win the treble, but we can do it again. We live in all competitions. We won the FA Cup at Tottenham, one of the stadiums where we haven’t won it before. The Champions League may be far away, but we’re still here. The Premier League still exists and we are fighting. “We want to be there in May and April and we want to be there for everything.”City star Rodri believes the squad can improve despite recent success. He said manager Pep Guardiola was the driving force behind the performance and an inspiration to the young players.
Rodri: “See Phil Foden? How old is Phil Foden? Starters like Jeremy Doku, Mathieu Nunes and Mateo Kovacic are older, but we can see younger players like Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb. If you look at players like Kevin and Kyle, they’ve been playing football for 10 or 15 years, but they still have a lot of football skills in them.
“He (Pep) knows how to find ways to motivate you, he’s very good at that and if you’re not doing well, he says ‘no, no’. He won’t let you be first and we’ll party.“I’m still young but with players like Rico Luis I feel I’m not young but I still have a lot of potential to grow and I’ve shown that since I joined City. “My approach every year has been to improve. So until my last day, until I retire, that’s what I want. “I have a desire to get better every day.”
