Dominik Szoboszlai of RB Leipzig is on the verge of joining Liverpool, and Reds supporters are thrilled about the prospect after witnessing his outstanding penalty-taking skills.
Liverpool reportedly struggled earlier in the week to reach an agreement with the Hungary international, but the Reds accelerated negotiations and exercised his €70 million release clause before it expired on June 30.
Newcastle were also interested in the former Red Bull Salzburg player, but it now appears like Liverpool will sign Szoboszlai, making him the club’s second summer addition after midfielder Alexis MacAllister of Brighton and Argentina.
Supporters are very supportive of the recruitment of the midfielder, and personal terms have been agreed upon. A medical appointment will soon follow.
Over the past two seasons in Germany, Szoboszlai has contributed to 28 goals and is a master at taking penalties.
A video of Szoboszlai doing admirably for club and country from 12 yards has been making the rounds.
Szoboszlai has only ever missed one of his 16 career penalties, which came in November 2021 against Bayer Leverkusen, according to TransferMarkt.
And it’s clear why. Szoboszlai clearly has a favourite side and frequently moves to the right of the goalkeeper, as the compilation demonstrates.
The man in the sticks will be aware of it because of their studies, and you can see that many of them made accurate assumptions.
