Liverpool are still struggling on all fronts this season and will return to their quest for FA Cup glory with a trip to Norwich City on Sunday.Jurgen Klopp’s side advanced to the Carabao Cup final in midweek. Wednesday night’s game against Fulham at Craven Cottage may have been a 1-1 draw, but it was all they needed to improve completely.
This is good news for Liverpool. The bad news is that there are a lot of injured players at the moment, but some are expected to return against Norwich. Here are the starting lineups Klopp could choose from when Liverpool face Norwich in the FA Cup:
GK: Caoimhin Kelleher – The fixtures have fallen in such a way that means the Irishman may get two games in a row as the stand-in goalkeeper, and Alisson gets a longer than usual rest.
RB: Conor Bradley – If Trent Alexander-Arnold cannot recover, it will be another start for Bradley. He took some flak for Fulham’s goal but his overall display was good once again.
CB: Jarrell Quansah – A player that Klopp and Liverpool fans have been really impressed by, the coach may decide to keep him in for this match given the quality of the opposition. He has earned the right to start again.
CB: Ibrahima Konate – Virgil van Dijk started against Fulham so Klopp may give these minutes to Konate and give the Dutchman a rest.
LB: Joe Gomez – It has been crucial for Liverpool that Gomez has stepped into this role in the absence of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. Robertson will be on the bench but is not expected to start.
CM: Harvey Elliott – It is expected that Elliott will hold his place from the Fulham game, although he will be concerned about Dominik Szoboszlai potentially getting back to full fitness in time.
CM: Alexis Mac Allister – He was one of the more impressive players against Fulham and with Wataru Endo playing for Japan, he should start again at the base of the midfield.
CM: Curtis Jones – Ryan Gravenberch took this role against Fulham but having looked off of the pace, Jones should bring some more energy to the role.
RW: Diogo Jota – Like his fellow Dutchman, Cody Gakpo will likely be replaced here by Jota. The Portuguese was lively from the bench at Craven Cottage.
ST: Darwin Nunez – He will continue to be given chances to become a more consistent striker. This game is a good opportunity to grab a goal or two.
LW: Luis Diaz – His goal sent Liverpool on their way against Fulham, and the Colombian will be the danger man once again at Anfield this weekend.
