Lionel Messi leaves Cristiano Ronaldo behind, sets new records…

Two of the most fierce rivals in football history are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Both the legends continue to dominate the minds of football fans all over the globe, Essentially Sports reported.

Messi, recently scored two goals in the Inter Miami vs New England Revolution match, while also setting a new record high of 1,200 goal assists.

Messi not only guided his team to a 4-1 triumph, but he also succeeded in robbing Ronaldo of a title that he had previously held with Real Madrid.

He was named Player of the Match Day for Major League Soccer (MLS). With this win, Messi ties his former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez for the record of two Player of the Match days, which was previously held by David Beckham and Landon Donovan.

Messi’s visit to the United States also helped to break attendance records at the well-known Gillette stadium in Massachusetts.

In an interview with Alexi Lalas, professor David Mosse narrated an incident, he said: “When Cristiano Ronaldo was at his peak at Real Madrid, there was a Madrid columnist named Alfredo Relano who said that when you have Ronaldo on your team, it’s like you start every match winning 1-0. And I kind of get that sense with Messi and Inter Miami right now.”
