LAS VEGAS — LeBron James officially started the process of being teammates with 11 of the best American players, with a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics as the end game.
But with respect to Steph Curry and Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid and everyone else, only one player will be the ultimate teammate, with the end game being father and son playing for the Lakers this fall.
LeBron opens up about a fourth Olympic adventure & Bronny’s Summer League debut, while Steve Kerr discusses Klay Thompson’s departure.
In the Cali Classic on Saturday, Bronny James made his Summer League debut as a practice run for joining a team the following season: LeBron commented, “It’s great for me to be able to watch my son succeed in the NBA alone.”
It has always been his dream. That he stands beside me makes me proud. Words evaporate. The child has come a long way in the past year, and he has worked incredibly hard to get here.
On July 24, of last year, while getting ready for his freshman season at USC, Bronny had a heart arrest. After a slow recovery, he moved up to the bench and was selected 55th two weeks ago. Being present with our friends and family as his name was called, and having this happen less than a year after the incident—our family still struggles to put into words the emotions we experienced. What a wonderful child, and I look forward to seeing his improvement. He still has a lot of potential to grow in terms of game pace and toughness.
