- The Los Angeles Rams officially announced the addition of two new senior assistant coaches in Sean Desai and Jerry Schuplinski on Friday, the former on defense and the latter on offense.
Both hirings were first reported last month, but this marks the first time the Rams have publicly acknowledged them.
Desai, 40, spent last season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coordinator, but not without some challenges along the way. The Eagles stripped Desai of play-calling duties after back-to-back blowout losses in early December and gave them to senior assistant Matt Patricia, a decision that went just about as badly as expected
Before going to Philadelphia, Desai spent one year as an associate head coach with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. He also had a nine-year stint with the Chicago Bears, becoming the team’s defensive coordinator in his final year with the team.
Schuplinski, 46, spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, first as a senior offensive assistant and then as a tight ends coach. He is perhaps most-notable for his time with the New England Patriots where he worked with Tom Brady as an offensive assistant (2013-2015) and assistant quarterbacks coach (2016-2018).
Schulpinski has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants over the past five years.
