Jordan Love has always been great. Since Aaron Jones came back, it’s gotten even bigger. Combined, they give the Green Bay Packers a chance to upset the Dallas Cowboys.
Instead, they offer packagers a proven formula for doing so. Jones, fully back from a knee injury, rushed for 127 yards against Carolina, 120 yards against Minnesota and 111 yards against Chicago in the final three games of the regular season.
In those three games, Love totaled three tackles. The Panthers scored four total touchdowns and two total touchdowns against the Vikings and posted the team’s longest streak without a 300-yard game in more than 30 years against the Bears.
Not coincidentally, their combined influence helped the Packers win the final three games of the season and advance to the playoffs.”I thought we wrestled well,” Love said this week. “Now that he’s back in the running game, he’s made some big plays and started the running game with some explosive plays.
I think it helped the passing game, opened things up and helped the defense test both the run and the pass. .“I think it’s great to have him here. He did a really good job, the O-line did a really good job. I think it helps us play the ball more, running, passing, connecting and the like.Do not ignore the marks of each attempt and pass.
“I think whenever we run the football more effectively, whether it’s play action or a return, that starts the passing game,” coach Matt LaFleur said. “Only the threat of a running game warrants some coverage. “In general, there are more people filling the box, which creates opportunities on the side.”
Through the final three weeks of the season, Jones was tied for first with 359 rushing yards. Among 34 running backs with at least 28 carries, according to PFF, Jones ranks third with 5.7 yards per carry, tied for first with 18 missed tackles and tied for first with 13 runs of 10 yards or more .
Jones’ three-game 110-yard streak tied him with Ahman Green and John Brockington for the longest single-season streak in franchise history.
