Jordan Henderson ruled out a trial in the Saudi Arabian Pro League during Ajax’s first press conference on Friday 19 January.The former Liverpool midfielder was speaking in Amsterdam following his move to the Dutch club after spending six months with Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, a move which sparked heavy criticism.
“Maybe a lot of people would like us to sit here and criticize the Saudi league and everything about it, but that certainly hasn’t happened and I’m not going to do that,” Henderson told the media. The England international added: “I have all the respect for the league, Eti Park Club and the people who welcomed us.”
