The Las Vegas Raiders officially designated Antonio Pierce as expected.
Raiders name Pierce as head coach and remove interim tag. Pierce began the season as the Raiders’ linebackers coach, but was promoted to interim head coach after Josh McDaniels was fired following the team’s 26-14 loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.
The Raiders started the season 3-5 under McDaniels, went 5-4 under Pierce and finished the season 8-9.Raiders players supported hiring Pierce as full-time head coach. Star defensive end Maxx Crosby has threatened to demand a trade if Pierce is not hired as head coach.
Raiders owner Mark Davis learned his lesson by hiring McDaniels instead of listening to Rich Bisaccia’s players he wants to keep after the 2021 season. This time, he is promoting a successful interim director to a full-time position.
