Midway through the 2023 season, the Raiders have made several changes internally and are currently searching for a new general manager. The Las Vegas Raiders are starting this summer when it comes to their management regime, and while they have head coach Antonio Pierce, the general manager job is open.
An extensive search is underway to fill the role, and the team appears to have interviews scheduled for several candidates.During the previous hiring cycle, the Raiders simultaneously selected Dave Ziegler as general manager and Josh McDaniels as head coach. However, the team will not use the same method this time around as they have decided to pursue two outside candidates in addition to interim general manager Champ Kelly.
According to Ian Rapoport:The Raiders will interview Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray and Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds in their general manager search, sources said. Interim GM Champ Kelly is scheduled to be interviewed tomorrow. If Dodds had been hired in Las Vegas last time, he wouldn’t be coaching.
He is a very good candidate. The Raiders have had trouble naming head coaches and general managers in the past. I hope you get lucky this time. Kelly didn’t get much of a chance to prove himself as a general manager, but maybe he didn’t get much of a chance to stick as the team’s head coach either.
Thatsaid, Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds currently appears to be the favorite to take the job, but the hiring could go either way. While Pierce is interviewing for the head coaching job with the Tennessee Titans, it will be interesting to see how the interview process plays out as Las Vegas plans to hire a general manager as quickly as possible.
