The Las Vegas Raiders appear to be targeting a suitable candidate for the head coaching job.
AntonioPierce is a top contender for the Raiders job, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. An interim coach isn’t the only option for the Raiders, but the eyes of the league would be surprised if the team went in another direction.
Player support appears to be the key to making Pierce the best candidate for the job. For example, wide receiver Max Crosby publicly pressured owner Mark Davis to keep Pierce and remove the interim tag. Davante Adams also talked about his desire to draft Pierce.
Pierce replaced the fired Josh McDaniels and fell to 5-4 despite a win over Kansas City. The Raiders could have some notable options, but Davis may feel it’s in the team’s best interest to keep their players happy and not shake things up.
