Jurgen Klopp believes Wataru Endo could have been man of the match in Liverpool’s win over Burnley. The Reds went top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win at Turf Moor.
Darwin Nunes opened the scoring for the visitors in the sixth minute before they wasted a number of good chances. Cody Gakpo also disallowed the goal after a VAR review. Harvey Elliott suffered a similar fate in the second period and Liverpool were not very dominant until Diogo Jota returned from injury to score the winner in the 90th minute. With the Reds now two points ahead of Arsenal, Virgil van Dijk was named man of the match. But Endo’s performance left a deep impression on Klopp.
“Virgil was a really outstanding player,” Klopp said in an interview with Amazon Prime. Another person who was able to join the battle was Wataru Endo. God, what a game he played. I would like to see the match without him. That would be very strange. “What I can say is that we created a lot of chances in the last 10 days, but we didn’t take many of them. “This is my fourth game in 10 days and whatever my body is doing, it’s not that accurate, so I’ve got to get over it.”
