Should ‘Queen of Christmas’ Mariah Carey be making room in her Christmas court for a new holiday royal?
According to Jennifer Hudson, the answer is a resounding “yes”!
Taking to Friday’s episode of ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show‘ (October 18), the EGOT-winning diva trumpeted the release of her first holiday album ‘Gift of Love.’
“This holiday season I want to take it over,” she told the audience. “Mariah is the Queen of Christmas, I’ll take ‘princess.’ She’s ok with it…we talked about this.”
Featuring guest appearances and/or production from the likes of rapper-boyfriend Common as well as Kirk Franklin, Ryan Tedder, and more, the 15-track project – Hudson’s first musical body of work since 2014 – sees her unveil some new yuletide tunes as well put her signatures spin on classics like ‘Little Drummer Boy,’ ‘O Holy Night,’ ‘The Christmas Song,’ ‘Jingle Bells,’ and more.
“The songs that are on my holiday album…which is why it’s taken me so long to come out with one because I love all the songs. How do you choose,” she quizzed the audience before breaking down how ‘Gift’ celebrates the different kinds of “Christmases.”
The segment (seen in full below) comes just weeks before the kick off of Jennifer’s forthcoming holiday tour.
