Jayson Tatum of the Celtics Isn’t “Thinking About” Takin…
Though the Boston Celtics have a 3-0 series lead against the Brooklyn Nets because to Jayson Tatum’s superior play, the two players do not view this as a “passing of the torch” moment.
“To be honest, I’m not thinking about that,” Tatum stated, as reported by Jared Weiss of The Athletic. “I’m certain it’s what Twitter and TV will say, but myself and all the guys in the locker room, we’re just worried about one game at a time and winning.”
Tatum, who is averaging 29.7 points per game in the series, scored 39 points in Saturday’s 109-103 victory. With just 16 points in the most recent defeat, Durant is averaging 22.0 points per game while shooting just 36.5 percent from the field during this series.
According to Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports, Durant is also only shooting 2-of-15 with 10 turnovers while Tatum is guarding him in this series.
Paul Pierce, a former player for the Celtics, talked about how the game is influencing their perspective:
Tatum is still more focused on the group than his matchup with one of the NBA’s top players.
The forward declared, “I’m not trying to make it a one-on-one or a matchup thing.”
This kind of thinking might enable Tatum and the Celtics to go far in the postseason.
