Jayson Tatum, a star player for the Celtics, claims that his mother only lets him spend endorsement money….
As per their agreement, Jayson Tatum, the forward for the Boston Celtics, only spends his endorsement money and not his NBA salary.
Tatum is now in the middle of a $163 million, five-year contract extension with the Celtics.
Tatum’s mother serves as his manager, and the actor admitted that it can be unpleasant when she asks him why he spent so much money on particular things.
Thanks to his mother Brandy Cole, player Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics leads a rather thrifty lifestyle.
During an interview with journalist Graham Bessinger on “In Depth,” Channing Tatum revealed that his mother manages him and assists with his money. Tatum is only permitted to spend his endorsement money; his NBA earnings are not allowed. This is one of her regulations.
“We had a deal before I got drafted that I couldn’t spend the money I make from the Celtics, that I have to live off my endorsements,” Tatum stated to Bessinger. Both she and my accountant concurred.
They had no idea that I would earn as much money off the court as I did. Thus, I feel compelled to spend that money,” Tatum said.
Tatum is an endorser for several companies, including Gatorade, Jordan Brand, and Subway. He informed Bessinger that the first pair of shoes bearing his name would launch in March.
Tatum is banking a sizable sum of money from the Celtics in the interim. After this season, Tatum will have earned $88 million in the NBA, according to Spotrac. He has just entered the second year of a $163 million, five-year contract extension.
Tatum admitted to Bessinger that there are times when it’s hard for his mother to know about his financial situation, such as when he spends $12,000 in one night while on vacation with friends. He claimed that one morning, his mother called to inquire about the whereabouts of the money.
