Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are doing a….
Finding gold nuggets at the deep end is made easier when one covers and follows a team on a daily basis. You ignore the obvious in favor of fresh perspectives, untold tales, and topics that haven’t been discussed before. The occasional inability to see the forest for the trees is a drawback. I thus prefer to occasionally take a step back and recognize the obvious. As an illustration, two really talented and entertaining basketball players are Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
This message is approved by Captain Obvious. Having said that, we shouldn’t under any circumstances take it for granted. Many clubs in the league would swap their entire roster for these two studs, who are just starting to reach their prime, if you were to look around.
Shall we review the commendable attributes? To score at all three levels, both players have improved their offensive games. They approach it differently, but not to the point where they obstruct one another’s path (which is difficult given that they are essentially wings). Both have put a lot of effort into controlling the ball and identifying open teammates; these are skills they have to acquire in order to advance in their careers. Both are adept at fulfilling their specific roles within the defensive plan and are very powerful defenders. In addition, both are subtly assuming a larger leadership role within the team, largely staying true to their individual styles while also progressively going outside of their comfort zones.
It’s been entertaining to watch them succeed together, despite all of the talk about how they “can’t play together.” It is becoming almost like a dance at this stage. First quarter leads are usually taken by Jaylen, who drives right into the defense’s jaws to weaken them. Tatum uses that more room to hurt teams from a distance. After that, they’ll switch it up, with Tatum going after the front of the rim or kicking it out to Brown, who unleashes deep-range daggers. If you try to take away any one element of their strategy, they’ll swiftly adjust and launch an alternate attack. And they take charge of the situation when they’re really hot. forcing defenders to stray in one direction, enabling them to do the desired action overall
This is next level material that requires years of collaboration to accomplish. It takes two very intelligent individuals who have an unwavering work ethic and a strong desire to excel in their field. It takes a certain amount of pride to know that they can be the best, but not so much pride that they believe they should or could accomplish it alone. They must also have faith in their teammates and provide them the freedom to excel in their assigned duties.
It’s true that all of stuff is low hanging fruit. But occasionally, you fail to notice what is directly in front of you. This club will go as far as the Jays take them, as we always say. Thus far, it appears that they have the potential to lead this club to great heights. And you shouldn’t take that for granted.
