The Detroit Lions confirmed Saturday that they are getting a big defensive addition back just ahead of the playoffs.
The Lions activated safety CJ Gardner-Johnson from injured reserve on Saturday. In addition, they removed him from the injury report, suggesting he will be able to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
Gardner-Johnson was injured in Week 2 and has not played since. There were initial fears that he would be out for the season after suffering a torn pec, but as early as October he pledged to be back in time for the playoffs. Not only has he done that, but he beat the target by a week.
The Lions have nothing to play for Sunday, so they may ease Gardner-Johnson back into action. Expect him to factor in heavily once the playoffs start.
