History of the Boston Celtics: Auerbach and Bird Celebrate 1981 Title
After the Celtics won the 1981 NBA World Championship, Larry Bird took a famed Red Auerbach cigar and turned the tables on the team president. While it was the 14th for veteran Celtics great Auerbach, it was the first for Bird in just his second professional season. Red could only respond, “Never,” when asked if he ever got weary of winning titles.
