Liverpool fans have every right to feel a little offended by the bizarre decision by the refereeing body overseeing Premier League referees in 2023/24.
The news that David Coote will be in charge of VAR duties for the next game against Arsenal does not inspire confidence. The Premier League has confirmed the news that Anthony Taylor will appear as a referee in the official announcement for matchweek 23.
That could be Jurgen Klopp’s long-time nemesis in English football, Paul Tierney. That’s not to say that the current group of executives chosen to lead our Emirates Stadium tour has improved much.
While some fans seem to agree with this, others are not taking this news well. This is understandable given that the country’s referees are in a battle with Pep Guardiola’s resurgent referee at Manchester City, and at worst could cost Liverpool a much-needed point.
