Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique hopes his former club Fulham can increase their interest in Joao Palhinha in the January transfer window.Manchester United have been revealed as potential suitors for the Portugal international, along with a host of other clubs, and in an interview with Grosvenor Sport, Enrique said the midfielder would be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“Joao Palhinha has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham. Firstly, I don’t think Tottenham should be included in the conversation about becoming stronger alongside Liverpool and Manchester United. They’re not the same.” Liverpool. I think he’s exactly what Liverpool need in midfield.”
However, Enrique does not expect Palhinha to arrive on the cheap next month and believes Liverpool could break their transfer record to sign Palhinha.”If they try to buy him in January, I think Fulham will demand a fee that nobody will be willing to pay. I think summer is a different story and anything can happen to it.
“Fulham will probably ask over £100m for him in January and nobody will pay, but they will bring him back in the summer.”
