The Las Vegas Raiders recently hired Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator, and wide receiver Davante Adams is intrigued by the move.Speaking about Gatsey this week, Adams praised Gatsey’s ability to take notes from players. “I mean innovation, he’s an open-minded type of coach,” Adams said, via ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.
“He will be open to hearing from experienced players who know how this works and the best way to do things. There are a lot of different things, but it takes an open mind and, as I said, innovation in attack and a good balance between running and passing. That’s what I learned. It’s West Coast style. “I think it’s going to be fun to work in a new system that we’re familiar with,” he said.Adams has known Getsy since his days with the Green Bay Packers.
Adams played for the Packers from 2014 to 2021, while Gaetsi played in two different roles in Green Bay during that time. Most recently, Getsy served as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears for the past two years.Adams is entering his third season with the Raiders and is coming off a 2023 season in which he played in every game and caught 103 passes for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns. The 30-year-old was acquired by Las Vegas in a trade with the Packers in March 2022.
Adams had 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns in his first season with the Raiders. He is coming off his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance and his third consecutive first-team All-Pro selection. Both streaks ended this year, but perhaps Davante Adams will now renew his honor routine with Gaetsy.Las Vegas went 8-9 last season and missed the playoffs.
