Chris Pratt Dispels Indiana Jones Rumor: I Was Terrified by Harrison Ford’s…
In January 2021, there was a boom in rumors that Chris Pratt will take over as the next Indiana Jones when Lucasfilm decided to revive the adventure franchise after Harrison Ford’s illustrious tenure. The actor from “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World” believes that will never occur. Pratt appeared on the “Happy Sad Confused” show and put an end to the notion.
“I’m not even familiar with Steven Spielberg.” Whom? Who is Steven? Pratt chuckled and then became serious. “No, are they not starring Harrison Ford in ‘Indiana Jones’?” All I know is that I once saw a comment from Harrison Ford that made me shiver—I’m not even sure if it was actually him—that said something like, “When I die, Indiana Jones dies.” And I wonder, “If I play, will I ever be haunted by Harrison Ford’s ghost after he passes away?”
The passage that Pratt is citing is from Ford’s “Today” interview from 2019. At the moment, the legendary actor stated frankly, “Don’t you get it? Indiana Jones is who I am. He disappears with me. It’s simple. Ford will play Indiana Jones for a sixth time in a new James Mangold-directed picture. The film will mark the first of an Indiana Jones film not helmed by Steven Spielberg, the franchise’s co-creator. Disney has already scheduled June 30, 2023, as the premiere date for Mangold’s movie. Ford is joined in this current adventure by a number of actors, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas.
“The first day I arrived, I was in the makeup trailer, and I turned around and there he was in the full Indiana costume with the hat and the whip,” Banderas said, adding that it was “so unbelievable” to see Ford on set donning his Indiana Jones costume. It was really great that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was present too. I still recall how enthralled the audience was when I saw “Indiana Jones” for the first time in a theater. This is like revisiting the old adventure (movies) in a whole new way, I thought to myself.
For his part, Pratt recently led the box office twice this summer, once with “Jurassic World Dominion” and once in a minor supporting capacity with “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Additionally, he stars in the new action series “The Terminal List” on Prime Video. On May 5, 2023, Pratt will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Star Lord in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”
