Given the number of departures this summer, Chelsea supporters are gravely concerned about the depth of the team now on the field.
Chelsea has sold a number of players in preparation for the 2023–24 season after two hectic transfer windows during which they massively invested in fresh talent.
Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, and N’Golo Kante have traveled to Saudi Arabia, while Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz have transferred to Manchester City and Arsenal, respectively.
Mason Mount is scheduled for a medical at Manchester United, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is about to sign with AC Milan, and Hakim Ziyech seems to be leaving as well.
Chelsea, though, have snapped up Christopher Nkunku, who agreed a pre-contract in December.
They remain in the market for new players, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
But, as it stands, Chelsea’s depth is still threadbare in so many areas, with fans expressing their worry ahead of the new season.
A post demonstrating the lack of depth was shared on social media by Twitter user @DinoCFC.
The user posted a picture of Chelsea’s depth in the team and the message, “One Kepa injury away from the worst championship keeper from a few years ago starting,” was attached.

The issue seems to be in the midfield and up front, while Chelsea’s defense appears to be quite steady. Conor Gallagher, Carney Chukwuemeka, and new big-money acquisition Enzo Fernandez all play in the midfield.
The attacking options include Noni Madueke, Christian Pulisic, Nicolas Jackson, Armando Broja, Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, who has failed to impress since his £88.5 million transfer.
Chelsea fans online raised concerns over their team’s current squad depth.
One Twitter user wrote: “This team can easily be relegated.”
“Really hard to see any positives rn, but I got faith in them directors,” another user said. In a month, our squad will look very different.
A third person added, “We’ll make some signings, but we’re not getting more than 55-58 points.”
Very light in the middle, according to a fourth. Needed are at least 3 signings.
“Defence is class, but Caicedo + a star attacker are needed,” another remarked.
