Barcelona coach Javi Hernández has announced that he will leave the club at the end of this season. The former Spaniard led Barcelona to the La Liga title at the end of the 2022/2023 season but failed to repeat that form.
Despite progressing to the last 16 of the Champions League, Barcelona could end the season without competing for the title. Xavi recently revealed that talks are ongoing with the Catalan club but dropped a bombshell after losing 5-3 to Villarreal in La Liga.
“I will leave the club on June 30. This is a decision I have discussed with the president and staff. Barça must change direction.“I think this will help change the dynamic of the club and I think we can still have a good season. “I have to think about the club before I think about myself,” he said.
Xavi’s call-up may come as a shock to his team, who have consistently backed him despite his mixed form in all competitions so far this season. His current contract expires in 2025 and the search for his successor will begin before the end of this season as part of a major overhaul in Catalonia.
