Brock Purdy was candid about the 49ers offense receiving gifts from Christian McCaffrey
There has been much discussion regarding who the genuine MVP of the San Francisco 49ers is: Christian McCaffrey or Brock Purdy. While that is still being debated, McCaffrey may have just beaten Purdy to the Most Valuable Teammate honor.
McCaffrey recently presented a personalized golf bag, a certificate for fitted golf clubs, and a bottle of Celaya Tequila to each member of the 49ers offense.
Purdy was asked about the generosity from the 49ers running back, who also received a golf set and a bottle of tequila. The 49ers quarterback joked that the move helps McCaffrey’s MVP chances.
“Financially, I wouldn’t be able to cover that right now,” Purdy joked. “He deserves a shout out. It was a big hit with everyone.
Over the course of his seven-year NFL career, McCaffrey has earned more than $65 million. The 27-year-old is presently serving the final year of a four-year, $64 million contract extension he signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2020. He has some money in his pocket.
Purdy, who has already chosen McCaffrey as his personal MVP pick, is making only $870,000 this season while playing in one of the world’s most expensive cities. It’s difficult to blame the second-year quarterback for not stepping up with extravagant gifts just yet.
