Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis gave Raider Nation what they wanted by hiring Antonio Pierce as their new head coach.
Will it take two more to win a Grand Slam?
Some fans questioned whether Davis did his due diligence during the interview process, but Pierce was his man. Maybe it was a “choice”.The fact that there are no “celebrity” interviews suggests this. This is especially true when looking at some of the titles. But Pierce is human. Now the problem has moved to the front office. On Halloween night, Dave Ziggler was ousted and Champ Kelly became the interim general manager.
Towards the end of January, Kelly, like Pierce, noticed the movement of the crowd behind him. When you see them side by side at events throughout the season and even beyond, you might think it’s a pack. Well, Raiders fans, not so fast. Should Mark Davis bring back both Champ Kelly and Ed Dodds? Mark Davis could be headed for big things, according to Raider Nation radio host Vincent Bonsignore.
He said the feeling around the league Saturday morning was that Champ Kelly and Ed Dodds could soon become a front office tandem. Now, it is important to note that this is not something that will happen in the near future. Dodds was busy interviewing because he was a popular target to fill the vacant general manager position. But the hierarchy in which Dodds and Kelly could work together could be bad news for the AFC West.
If you’re not familiar with Dodds, he has roots with the Raiders that go back to the legendary Al Davis. His tenure as assistant general manager of the Indianapolis Colts is impressive. It’s a brain trust that drafted Anthony Richardson, Quenton Nelson, Shaq Leonard and Michael Pittman.
He previously scouted the Seattle Seahawks. In 2015, he was promoted to the position of human resources manager. Accompanying this segment were Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman. We all know how that turned out.
