Robbie Fowler looks set to lose his job at Blackburn Rovers as he hopes to become a manager in England.John Dahl Tomasson will take over as Rovers manager after former Birmingham City manager John Eustace officially left the Norwegian club, according to Sky Sports. Rovers have accepted Thomason’s resignation after taking five points from their last 11 games and are assessing potential candidates to fill the hot seat at Ewood Park.
According to the Express, Fowler could replace Thomasson in the dugout despite never having managed a club in England. Fowler, who scored 183 goals in 369 appearances for Liverpool, has instead enjoyed a career on the other side of the world, enjoying successful spells in India, Thailand and Australia. He most recently managed Saudi Arabia’s second division club Al Qadsia, which has a number of former Premier League players including Joel Robles and Luciano Vietto.
However, Fowler decided to leave Cadsia in December despite winning six out of eight games, a move that was crucial to their promotion push, which they are still going strong for. After proving his worth overseas, Fowler was lured into the English game by Blackburn, taking over the role previously held by Manchester United legend Kenny Dalglish. But that opportunity now appears to have been ruled out, with Rovers opting for a proven Championship manager in Eustace.
