According to a report from Albert Breer, the Las Vegas Raiders are working on a deal to hire Luke Getsy as the team’s new offensive coordinator.Gaetsi was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears in 2022-2023. He also spent several seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
At Green Bay, he served as quarterbacks coach, receivers coach, passing game coordinator and offensive quality control coach. Along the way, he earned the respect of many in the NFL, working alongside quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields. In addition to his time in the NFL, Getsy also spent time in college at Mississippi State and Western Michigan. This was one of the biggest hires of the offseason for new Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce.
In addition, news broke that former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury had been left off the list of candidates for the next offensive coordinator, drawing attention. Kliff Kingsbury was more than just a former NFL head coach. Chip Kelly, currently the head coach at UCLA and previously coached the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, also interviewed for the position. In the 2023 season, the Raiders averaged 19.5 points per game. This was due to the difficulty of the quarterback position.
Jimmy Garoppolo came to Las Vegas to become the team’s next starting quarterback because of his affinity with then-head coach Josh McDaniels. However, McDaniels was fired midseason and Garoppolo was subsequently replaced. Instead, Aiden O’Connell took over at fullback. Now, Luke Gatsey will play a key role in finding ways to improve the quarterback and offense as a whole.
