Erik Ten Hag says Lisandro Martinez may have suffered a “very serious” injury during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.
Ten Hag said Martinez’s injury, following his return from a long-term leg injury last month, was a “personal disaster” for the defender. Martinez tangled with Vladimir Coufal trying to block a ball in the second half at Old Trafford and was soon substituted, taking matters into his own hands.
Asked how serious Argentina’s problems are, ten Hag said: “I can’t say, but it doesn’t look good. Poor maintenance.“You have to wait a few days to get a diagnosis. We do our best to get a proper diagnosis and determine what the damage is. “It’s very sad and very disappointed. We all really feel it. “First of all, if it’s really bad, it’s a personal disaster, but it’s also bad for the team because it brings us a lot,” he said.In an interview with Sky Sports, the Manchester United manager added: He is a very important player for us.
