Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, citing league sources, reports that the Raiders are hiring former Bengals running back Marvin Lewis as an assistant coach.
This wouldn’t be too surprising as previous reports indicated that Lewis would be expected to join Antonio Pierce’s staff. Lewis, 65, became the Bengals’ head coach in 2003 and spent 16 seasons with the team before being fired after the 2018 season.
Lewis has not actively pursued another NFL head coaching job, after the Bengals decided to let him go after the 2018 season and take a step back from football. He came to Arizona as special counsel to Herm Edwards and held that position for the past several years.Overall, the Bengals posted a 131-122-3 (51.8%) record under Lewis, including seven postseason appearances but no playoff wins.
