Kylian Mbappe’s previous comments about Jurgen Klopp have resurfaced after the Liverpool manager decided to step down at the end of the season.
Klopp is set to leave Anfield at the end of May to take a break from football, leaving him with big shoes to fill in the dugout. How this will affect the Reds remains to be seen. Some believe this will complicate the situation in the transfer market as Liverpool try to attract top players to the club.
Mbappe is one of the names linked with a move to Merseyside as his future at Paris Saint-Germain remains uncertain, but a deal for the French forward is unlikely to be completed following Klopp’s departure. The 2018 World Cup winner expressed his admiration for Liverpool and Klopp in particular while discussing their winning 2019/20 campaign.
“What Liverpool are doing now is fantastic,” Mbappe told BBC Sports. “They’re like machines, they find the rhythm and say, ‘Let’s play again, let’s play again.’ When you look at it, you think everything is easy, but it is not. Guys focus and play the game every three days and win, win, win. “The problem now is that everyone is looking at Liverpool and what we can do against them.
Now they have to show that they are strong again, but they are a very good team with a very good manager.”Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires this summer, he becomes a free agent (FA) and is free to choose his next club. There is little sign that the 25-year-old will sign a new contract in the French capital.
