Are we all relieved at the big news?Let’s hope Liverpool fans are starting to come to terms with the shock news that Jurgen Klopp will be leaving at the end of the season.
The German has worked wonders at Anfield since joining in 2015. During his hugely successful spell, he won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. But while we all know about his accomplishments in the dugout, we decided to take a look at his family life.
In fact, one of the reasons he left the famous Merseyside club was that he had “no energy” left and “I want to live a normal life”. Klopp, 56, is the father of Mark, a son from his first marriage to Sabina. His son played for his former club Borussia Dortmund but retired in 2015 due to injuries.
But the legendary manager married his second wife in 2005, Ulla Sandrock, whom he met as a waitress at Munich’s Oktoberfest. The philanthropist is best known as the First Lady of the German Bundesliga, and her selfless efforts include working as a teacher and hospital worker in Nairobi for three years.
He is also a children’s author whose first book was called Tom and the Magic Football. Ulla is also hugely popular at Liverpool and when Klopp helped the team win their first Premier League title in 30 years, he was praised for handing out food vouchers to Waitrose staff for their efforts during the pandemic.
Klopp has even convinced him to extend his contract with the club until 2026, despite the fact that he is now on the sidelines. At the time, he said: “The most important contract in my life is the contract with Ulla. Here it is again. We were sitting at the table and Ulla said, “I don’t think we can leave in 2024.””It’s very important, maybe the most important thing, because I can’t and don’t want to be against it.
My family, especially Ulla, likes it here.”If he said, ‘Honestly, I like football and I like watching it, but I want to go home’, we would go. That’s the truth.” He started it and we got here.”The couple are childless, but Ulla has a son, Dennis, and became a father for the first time last year at the age of 35.
