In a lengthy interview with Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp explained why he called the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, in March. Liverpool also confirmed that respected assistant Lijnders will leave after 10 years with Klopp, alongside Kravitz, who joined the club alongside Klopp, and Matos, who was appointed to the role in 2019.
Linders has risen through the ranks since joining Liverpool in 2014, spending a year as under-16 coach before taking up the newly created role of first-team development coach.After being appointed manager, he switched to Klopp’s coaching system and, having previously worked at PSV Eindhoven and Porto, earned a reputation as one of the best young managers in European football.
The 41-year-old left Liverpool in 2018 to become manager of Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, before returning to Anfield later that year.Leanders, who has regularly held press conferences for League Cup games in recent years, signed a new contract with Klopp in April 2022 but is now set to leave with the manager at the end of the 2023/24 season.
