Liverpool have a brilliant squad after a careful summer of planning and smart business and the title charge is very much on after 2`1 games.
With injuries to key figures, they have opted to promote youth and academy graduates who, so far, have proven they can cut it at the top level.
However, depending on how the season goes, Jurgen Klopp may feel the need to strengthen regardless of whether they win silverware or not. If they win, then they will look to add another dynamic to keep their squad fresh. If not, then they will want to add to ensure they can go one step further next time around.
Looking at the latest reports, Liverpool have strong links to a number of great talents and we have predicted what the starting XI could look like in 2024 if they secure certain targets.
1. GK – Alisson Becker
Liverpool and Brazil’s number one. Enough said.
2. RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
One of the best players around at the moment, Liverpool will miss him over the next few weeks and fans will be itching to see him back on the pitch.
3. CB – Virgil van Dijk
The Liverpool skipper is the first name on the teamsheet every week.
4. CB – Goncalo Inacio
The Sporting defender has been a target for some time and is reportedly waiting for a big club to come for him in the summer. We reported that he had turned down an approach from Newcastle in this window and the summer could see someone trigger his sizeable release clause (set at £51m).
5. LB – Andy Robertson
The Scotsman will return at the end of the month and he will eventually return to being their number one option at LB.
6. CM – Teun Koopmeiners
The Atalanta midfielder has been in great form this season and can play across multiple roles in midfield. Seven goals and four assists show can contribute going forward and he is simply a technically strong and experienced player who could be great under Jurgen Klopp.
7. CM – Dominik Szoboszlai
A key figure since his arrival, he will continue be so important for Klopp and Liverpool when he returns from injury.
8. CM – Alexis Mac Allister
The Argentinian is a key figure in midfield and it feels like there is a lot more to come from the World Cup winner.
9. RW – Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian King, there is simply no one else like Mo Salah.
10. LW – Luis Diaz
The Colombian has got a spring in his step once again and he is looking to build up to top form after recent encouraging performances.
11. ST – Darwin Nunez
The Uruguayan is Liverpool’s top assist maker this season and, while he can certainly improve in front of goal, he is a constant threat.
