Liverpool are unlikely to make any signings in the January transfer window, but rumors linking Jurgen Klopp’s side with a new centre-back have not gone away.Inacio, who has been linked with moves to several clubs, would be a great signing and currently has a £52m release clause in his contract with Sporting.
According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Inacio previously turned down an offer from Newcastle United while awaiting a move to a bigger club that could challenge for the title. One of the clubs mentioned was Liverpool, which suggested that Inacio could be open to a move to Anfield. However, Arsenal and Real Madrid have also been linked, meaning United will face stiff competition for the 22-year-old if they decide to go ahead and sign him.
Manchester United are another club linked with the Portuguese player, who has made five appearances. Liverpool have sent scouts to follow Inacio in recent months and it would be foolish not to consider a player of such talent and potential.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also closely monitoring Inacio’s team-mate Ousmane Dioman (20), who is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The promising youngster has a £69m release clause in his contract with the Portuguese side and is a player United are constantly monitoring.
