Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce is considered a candidate for a permanent job with the team, but there could be competition.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Tennessee Titans have requested permission to interview Pierce for a head coaching position.
They are looking for a replacement for Mike Vrabel, who was surprisingly fired on Tuesday. Interest from secondary teams could put additional pressure on the Raiders. Pierce has received rave reviews for his work since replacing Josh McDaniels midseason.
It was 5-4 and the players wanted to go on. It is not yet known if the Raiders plan to audition that player. Owner Mark Davis could make a big move for a top-level coach. If that happens, Pierce at least has a backup option.
