According to reports, Manchester United and Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat have reached a personal agreement, and they are using a “secret weapon” to try and sign him.
Amrabat featured in this year’s Europa Conference League final for Fiorentina as well as the 2022 World Cup final for Morocco, where he helped his country reach a semi-final berth for the first time in history.
After a late Jarrod Bowen goal, the Italian team experienced loss at the hands of West Ham. Nordin, a former Watford and Malaga forward, claimed after the game that Amrabat’s brother had discussed a transfer with other teams.
Due to how many games he played during the season and the fact that, as the manager of Morocco acknowledged, “he will soon be out of the international team,” the 22-year-old was freed from duty last month was released from international duty last month by Morocco boss Walid Regragui, due to how many games he played in the season and because, the manager admitted, ‘he will soon sign for another club’.
In addition, ahead of a potential summer transfer, United and the midfielder have reached a personal agreement, according to Italian publication La Nazione (via Sport Witness).
In order to give themselves an even greater advantage in their quest of transfers, they also possess a secret weapon.
Man Utd’s Amrabat ‘secret weapon’ revealed
United already have a link to Amrabat through the player’s agency, CAA Stellar. The agency’s chief, Jonathan Barnett, helped to secure Gareth Bale’s £86 million move to Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013.
The agency (via Transfermarkt) also represents the likes of Real’s Eduardo Camavinga, Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate.
But there are notable links to United within the agency’s client list. The quartet of Dean Henderson, Facundo Pellistri, Anthony Elanga and Luke Shaw are all registered as clients.
United dealt with the agency earlier this year, when Shaw committed to a new four-year contract at Old Trafford.
Amrabat and United are connected by yet another factor because the Moroccan played for Erik ten Hag’s FC Utrecht team in the Netherlands.
Last month, the Manchester club transacted business with Utrecht by selling the team a young midfielder named Zidane Iqbal for an alleged sum of £1 million plus a sizable sell-on clause.
